Guild of the Week
There's a new feature on the Guild Wars website, Guild of the Week. The first feature happens be on the guild I'm in, the Amazon Basin. You can find it here.
Looks nice a nice feature, one that can especially help new players to get to know the GW community. Besides, more features means more fun.

Congrats, it was a very good read. I appreciate the suggestions for a guild starting out looking for a build.

I believe they did say in the review, that they were a PvE guild and was just starting to dabble in PvP. But I honestly don't know what is a horrible PvP build to begin with.

Well, they shouldn't publish a build that is "able to hold its own against teams that lack coordination, but it lacks the strength and firepower to defeat well-trained teams utilizing disruptive skills and tactics". Making a build to defeat bad teams is pretty pointless. When your aim is that low you can only achieve mediocrity.

It doesn't seem like they (Amazon Basin) want to achieve much more than mediocrity in the PvP arena. Can't fault them for that, it's not like they actually said their build was omfgdiddly uber. Not every guild under the spotlight needs to focus on PvP. That said, 'twas a fun read indeed. Congrats, Amazon Basin!

Sure, you don't have to focus on PvP. But if you are playing PvP, and you are running a team build, why not run a good build instead of a mediocre one?

Can't say. Perhaps they just have a group of players that are attached to their characters and builds, and wouldn't be willing to roll a character through the lv20 generator for the sake of being competitive. Like me, I'd rather sit out a guild battle than play a character or build that isn't my main. It's all well and good making dedicated Guild builds if guildmates are willing to play along, but if they aren't, you just have to work with what they've already got. Going off that basis, they've got a decent enough build to take on similar guilds/players.

This is a really cool feature of the GW site. My BF and I will be looking for new members to our guild the Wayward Wanderers next BWE, but we're kind of picky about who joins. We mostly do PvE stuff. But later on we might go into PvP if we get a good enough build of people.
I want to know more about the Guild Hall, how much are they anyway? Sorry if this is off topic. We don't even have capes yet, we both just played the March BWE.
I really hope we can become one of the Guilds of the Week...
We have a story behind our name already, I'm like the second in command of sorts, one of us was going to make it, he came up with the name, and now I'm his second in command, or well second head of the group pretty much.
Er, sorry guys, But wow, that group has been around for a long time...
I feel so small... we only have four people in our guild, me, my BF Corwin Andros, and my two other IRL friends, which one of them still needs some work playing, he gets himself into trouble on quests and we have to help him out more than we would if we just stuck together...
Congrats and I'm off to make a suggestion about Guild Wars...

They could just as well be finding their feet, that or they lack the resources to get all the 'cool' skills, or they know that nothing is worse than low morale because the team leader didn't let a player play the build they want.
Btw Mumblyfish, Is that avatar of yours from Spaced?

Nash, their aim with that build is to introduce new people to PvP (within their own guild). It acts as an introduction to PvP, and is designed to do that. No where was it stated that they intend to use the build to try and make a PvP name for themselves ... that build does for them what they need it to do, and could provide a good basis for other like-minded guilds. Once a player has some experience with this build, they can move on to other things.
In future weeks you'll be seeing a variety of Guilds and a variety of Builds that are designed for a variety of different purposes. Slamming a build simply because it may not be good enough to take the top of the ladder is just a little short sighted, don't you think?
